I don’t know how many time’s I’ve been asked since September 1st, “Hey! What did you do this summer?”
My answer is always the same… “NOTHING!!!”
I DIDN’T KILL A BUNCH OF TEENS AT A LAKE HOUSE THAT’S FOR DANG SURE!!!
Okay… enough sarcasm… you’re better than that, Erin. (Hahaha, right.)
It’s the truth, though. I didn’t accomplish any of what I set out to do. In May, I decided what my goals for the summer would be. See the below annoying list that drives my inner Indie Author crazy with contempt!
- Finish two 50k long books by the end of July (I also participated in Camp NaNo, that tanked)
- Have both 50k books edited, covers designed and marketing started by August (HA, nope didn’t happen because of step #1)
- Publish both books by September (see steps #1 and #2)
- Have the second book in both series semi-started and semi-outlined by September (fall into a pit of despair and eat a lot of chocolate)
Good list, right? Thank you… it took me three months to ignore every single one!
It’s not like I was on the couch all summer watching Riverdale… I mean I was… for a little bit… (Bughead 4eva ♥)
I worked 8 hours a day, five days a week, hiked a lot on the weekends and went away three times (cottage with the family, hotel with the dog and a hiking trip to this beautiful island on the East Coast).
So as you can see, I did stuff, but not Indie Author stuff. See the thing is, if you don’t write, you don’t get anywhere in an Indie career. So, I came to realize and I think I’ve touched on this is past posts, but I am a Procrastinating Queen! Bow before me or don’t… maybe I’ll take a nap.
So… for September, I have one goal and that is:
- WRITE SOME MORE
Okay, this is on the low-scale detail of my actual goals, so here we go:
- Be at 50k on my book The InBetween by the end of September
Once this is completed, I feel like the world is my oyster. I’ll spend most of October going over edits and planning for NaNoWriMo. My NaNoWriMo is going to be the second book in the InBetween series! So excited! Stay tuned!
My practice of pumping out 5k words a day has been obliterated. Over the summer three of the staff in my office quit. It’s very sad and has been a busy time. There hasn’t been a lot of time to write. So for the fall and early winter, I am determined to get things accomplished before 2018 is over.
From now on, my goal is easier, write 2k words a day. Obviously if I write more than that then that’s amazing, but 2k is my goal. Cross your fingers and toes! Stay tuned for more encouraging and bat shit crazy content!
